Rebooting a Phone without Removing the Battery

Recently, I had my phone freeze up on me. In the past I would have just flipped my phone over and popped off the back cover and pulled the battery out. The phone I have now has a back that doesn't come off. So I had to refer to my manual for how to reset my phone.

Here's how I did it on my Android phone:

Press and hold the power key and the volume down key for about 10 seconds. This will cause a reboot on your phone and your data won't be deleted.

For iPhone here's how you would do it:
  1. Holding the power button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time.
  2. Hold them both until you see the screen go black. Sometimes you might need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
  3. Wait until the Apple logo appears and then you can let go because it's rebooting.
I haven't used the iPhone method at this point, but I'm guessing I'll have to at some point in the future. Best of luck rebooting your phone!
